Texas Book Festival Sponsor Spotlight: JE Dunn Construction

April 10, 2026

Building More Than Structures, Building Stronger Communities

JE Dunn Construction is known for shaping skylines and civic landmarks, but its impact goes far beyond bricks and mortar. For over a century, JE Dunn has combined construction expertise with a deep commitment to community, philanthropy, and social impact, building not just structures, but stronger, more connected communities.

Through its Community Impact program, JE Dunn supports nonprofits, encourages employee volunteerism, and invests in the places where its people live and work. Employees nationwide contribute thousands of volunteer hours, participate regularly in service projects, and support hundreds of organizations, with significant financial investment in community programs.

Transforming Texas Communities

JE Dunn’s work in Central Texas is shaping the civic and cultural landscape:

  • Texas Capitol Complex: As general contractor on the Capitol Complex Phase II project, JE Dunn is modernizing and expanding office buildings and civic spaces adjacent to the historic Texas State Capitol. For Texas Book Festival, the Capitol is the heart of the event, where thousands gather each November to celebrate books, ideas, and community. JE Dunn’s work supports this iconic space and continues to serve both civic life and cultural celebration.
  • Texas State Library and Archives Commission: JE Dunn is constructing a 242,000‑square‑foot archival and records storage facility in Pflugerville, nearly doubling the state’s archival capacity. Just like Texas Book Festival brings readers and writers together to celebrate stories, JE Dunn’s work ensures these stories, and Texas history itself, are preserved and ready to inspire future generations.
  • Cedar Park Public Library: JE Dunn built a 47,000‑square‑foot library that has become a vibrant hub for learning and community connection. With flexible programming spaces, tech resources, and welcoming areas, JE Dunn created a space that embodies TBF’s love of libraries as places that celebrate literacy and the joy of reading.

Hands-On Impact at Texas Book Festival

JE Dunn’s commitment extends beyond construction. At the Festival, the company sent over 20 volunteers, gave sponsorship support, and provided prizes for kids who completed the ever-popular scavenger hunt.

These efforts reflect JE Dunn’s community engagement efforts: committing to volunteer service, matching employee gifts, and supporting education, literacy, and community wellbeing more broadly, creating memorable experiences for kids and families.

A Partnership Built on Shared Values

Ann Jerome, TBF Board Member and Interim CEO of Big Brothers Big Sisters of Austin, connected JE Dunn with Texas Book Festival after witnessing the company’s transformative civic work, from the Capitol to libraries and other civic entities.

Their shared commitment to literacy, culture, and community engagement makes JE Dunn a natural partner. By supporting TBF, JE Dunn helps ensure that the Festival thrives in its most cherished venue, the Texas State Capitol, where stories, ideas, and community continue to flourish.
