The Leamos Initiative aims to create a vibrant, inclusive literary community for Latine and Spanish-speaking Texans through bilingual, Spanish-language, and culturally relevant programming for all ages.
The Leamos Tent at the annual Festival features a dedicated programming track that highlights distinguished Latine authors and their books, ranging in genre from literary fiction, fantasy, and poetry to nonfiction and memoir. Many sessions and panels are in Spanish. And our Read-Me-A-Story Tent includes bilingual storytimes to delight and inspire young readers. We also offer a selection of books in Spanish in our Book Sales tents.
Previous Festival authors include award-winning novelists, poets, and journalists such as Cristina García, Ray Suarez, Jonny Garza Villa, Tim Z. Hernandez, Rudy Ruiz, and Paola Ramos. Children’s authors have included celebrated storytellers such as Michael Genhart, Carmen Tafolla, Raúl the Third, Jesús Trejo, and Juana Medina.
Check out Paola Ramos’ and Jonathan Blitzer’s panel De la Frontera a las Urnas: Migración Latina y Transformación Política, recorded at the 2024 Texas Book Festival.
Join us for the 30th Annual Festival, November 8-9, 2025, for a full line up of Latine and Spanish-language programming for all ages! ¡Todos son bienvenidos!
