What is Reading Rock Stars?

Our Reading Rock Stars program brings nationally recognized authors and illustrators to Title I elementary schools across Texas to inspire young readers with engaging presentations, stories, and conversations.

During Reading Rock Stars visits, students have the opportunity to ask questions and make personal connections with authors. At the conclusion of the event, every student takes home their very own signed copy of the featured book, funded by Texas Book Festival.

How do we get Reading Rock Stars at my School?

The Reading Rock Stars application cycle for 2026-2027 school visits is now closed. We commit to bringing Reading Rock Stars to our partner schools for three consecutive years, so the application window is not open in every region every year. Follow @texasbookfest on social media or subscribe to our newsletter for an update on when applications open in 2027.
