Jose Rodriguez

Communications & Public Relations Manager

What I work on

Hi! 👋🏽 I’m Jose. I have the privilege of leading and managing Texas Book Festival’s communications and publicity efforts. This includes creating and managing our newsletters, social media, and press releases, and liaising our relationships with the media. I steer TBF’s campaign strategies with an aim to engage existing and new audiences. One of my favorite ways of doing this is by developing video-forward content. I also manage the Texas Library Grants program, an initiative that’s been a part of TBF’s work since the beginning, providing essential funds to public libraries statewide. If you haven’t already, I invite you to follow us on social media @texasbookfest and to subscribe to the TBF newsletter. See you in cyberspace, friend! 🚀

Why I work here

I’ve been writing short stories since I was introduced to word-processing software at age six. In the years that followed, I was inspired by writers like R.L. Stine and Christopher Pike. This early love of writing, which continues into adulthood, makes me feel lucky that I get to work at TBF. Seriously, I pinch myself every day.

My education and experience

I’m a graduate of Texas State University’s English and Marketing programs. I began my professional career in the tech space having managed the online presences of several hundred small businesses across the U.S. I’ve volunteered with literary organizations including Austin Bat Cave and the Writers’ League of Texas. Today, I’m a contributing editor for the literary magazine STORY based in Columbus, Ohio and write fiction and poetry in my free time. My love of storytelling has led me here.

More about me

When I’m not writing newsletters and managing TBF’s content calendar, I like to roller skate, bake, and read speculative fiction.
