2025 Texas Writer Award Presentation
Join us to honor Dr. Peniel E. Joseph, the 2025 recipient of the annual Texas Writer Award! Each year, Texas Book Festival presents the Texas Writer Award to an esteemed writer in recognition of outstanding contributions to Texas literature. Joseph is the founding director of the Center for the Study of Race and Democracy at the LBJ School of Public Affairs and a distinguished professor of history at the University of Texas at Austin. In addition to accepting his award, Joseph will discuss his latest book, Freedom Season: How 1963 Transformed America’s Civil Rights Revolution.
