What I work on
Leading up to the festival I organize event details; venue reservation, set up, signage and AV needs, and much more. I also serve as the primary point of contact for our team of Volunteer Committee Chairs who run festival venues every year. I work together with VCCs to review safety information leading up to the event, supply needs, and general volunteer requests. In the off season, I support our Reading Rock Stars program and other year-round events with logistical support.
Why I work here
I’ve loved reading and event planning as far back as I can remember. In college I was able to follow each of these passions; my studies allowed me to analyze stories in their various forms, and my extracurriculars allowed me to practice event organization. In my final semester of college I interned with TBF, which combined these two interests in a way I didn’t know was possible. Honestly, it seemed like a dream job, and I can confidently say it’s lived up to, and exceeded, my expectations since I joined full-time.
My education and experience
I grew up just up the road in Georgetown, Texas and graduated from the University of Texas at Austin with degrees in English and Journalism, as well as a Certificate in Creative Writing. Prior to joining TBF full-time, I served as the Event Production Intern at the 2021 Festival where I fell in love with the organization.
More about me
I’m the proud mother of TBF’s (unofficial) mascot, Otis the Shih Tzu. When I’m not chasing him around the office, you can find me running at town lake, playing tennis, trying out yoga classes, or searching for Austin’s best margarita.
