What I work on
I work on a variety of design, marketing, and communication needs with the entire TBF team. My work excitedly requires a thorough understanding of all parts of the organization, and I hope to be able to translate the story of who we are in all of the assets and collateral I make day to day. My work takes many forms, and I love that about the role. Whether I’m developing a PowerPoint, brochure, merch, Annual Report, or a website update – I always look forward to creating with our audience and program participants at the forefront of my work and telling the story of TBF as best as I can.
Why I work here
As an attendee of the annual Texas Book Festival throughout much of my childhood and a Reading Rock Stars alum, I was elated when the opportunity arose to be a part of the team that brought such formative and special memories to me. These memories are a part of why I fell in love with reading and I feel lucky that I get to work with an amazing group of humans trying to do that for others so many years after the organization had such a great impact on me.
My education and experience
I grew up in, and graduated, from Del Valle ISD. I went on to leave for college out of state at Stanford University, where I majored in Product Design and minored in Art Practice. The holistic engineering major drew me in with an approach to design that highlights the importance of understanding human needs to always create with people at the top of mind. I began my career in New York City as a digital product designer before I decided to return to my hometown and continue my career in a role that I was passionate about, leading me to the wonderful team at TBF.
More about me
When I am not at work – I love to make things. I am a Chicana artist interested in multimedia art, self-expression through clothing, and decorating my space. Any of these activities combined with an audiobook in the background is heaven to me!
