What I work on:
As the Events and Logistics Coordinator for TBF, I assist with the planning and execution of TBF’s key events, including school programming, year-round author sessions, and the annual Festival. This role gives me the unique opportunity to collaborate with the Festival’s numerous Volunteer Committee Chairs, who continue to inspire me with their dedication and support.
Why I work here:
I am a native Austinite, which means I have seen our city grow and change in ways I never could have imagined. Despite this rapid growth, one aspect has stayed central to Austin culture – the Texas Book Festival. This Festival still fosters the same joy, community, and educational opportunities now as it did when I was a child, meeting my favorite storybook authors and begging my parents to let me stay just a little longer (they always did). Serving as the Development Intern for the 2024 Festival gave me a behind-the-scenes look into how the Texas Book Festival continues to celebrate literature and support fellow Texans. I am grateful to join a team of such talented and passionate individuals, and I wish I could tell 10-year-old Madeline that, one day, she would work at the Festival she spends all year counting down to.
My educational experience:
I earned a Bachelor of Arts in Communication, a certificate in Strategic Communication, and a minor in Studio Art from Texas A&M University, which means that I am the loudest and proudest member of the fightin’ Texas Aggie Class of 2025 (whoop!). Throughout my time in Aggieland, I served as a Peer Writing and Speaking Consultant for the University Writing Center, which allowed me to lead over 600 appointments and workshops to help Aggies improve their writing and speaking skills. I gained experience in event coordination and volunteer management throughout my time as MSC Hospitality’s Executive Director of Service.
