Monica Maldonado Williams is a former journalist who covered the Austin social sector for 15 years. She is the also co-founder of The New Philanthropists, a nonprofit with a mission to improve representation among nonprofit leaders. She is currently the community development manager at Austin’s largest credit union, UFCU, specializing in outreach to the underserved. She has received the YWCA’s Women of Color Leading Change award, the Women Communicators of Austin Creative Initiative Award, and others. A native of San Antonio, Monica lives in Austin with her husband and is the mother of two young adults.
