Mark D. Cunningham is Chair and Professor in the Department of Radio-Television-Film at Austin Community College. He has written essays focusing on John Singleton’s Poetic Justice, Spike Lee’s Crooklyn, Ice T’s role on Law & Order: Special Victims Unit, and alternative spaces of blackness in Barry Jenkins’ Medicine for Melancholy. His forthcoming book Once Upon a Time in South Central L.A.: John Singleton’s Hood Trilogy is being published by the University Press of Mississippi.
