Juli Berwald received her Ph.D. in Ocean Science at the University of Southern California. She is the author of Spineless, about jellyfish, and Life on the Rocks, about coral, and has written for Texas Monthly, Nautilus, National Geographic, Nature, and Science, among others. She is also the President of Tela Coral, a non-profit working to understand an exceptionally healthy coral reef in Honduras.
