Gabriela Polit Dueñas is a Professor in the Department of Spanish and Portuguese at UT, where she coordinates the Spanish Creative Writing Initiative. Her latest academic book is Unwanted Witnesses: Journalists and Conflict in Contemporary Latin America (Pittsburgh UP, 2019) translated into Spanish and published by Universidad Nacional Autónoma de México (2023). She has published two other monographic volumes and has edited two books. Her academic work appears in academic journals in the US, Mexico, Colombia, Argentina and Spain. She has two short story volumes, a bilingual poetry book Agujas/Needles, translated by Sean Manning (Literal Publishing, 2021) and a novel, Los libros de otros (Chatos Inhumanos, 2023). In 2023 she published Contar historias: Escritura creativa en el aula (UT Press, 2023), an anthology of stories written in Spanish by her students.
