Dr. Colette Pierce Burnette, President Emeritus of Huston-Tillotson University, currently serves as the CEO of Waterloo Greenway Conservancy in Austin, Texas. As CEO, Dr. Burnette is leading the management and completion of a $400 million, 35-acre urban public park project that spans the downtown area. Dr. Burnette holds a Bachelor of Science in Engineering from The Ohio State University, a Master of Science in Administration from Georgia College, and an Ed.D. in Higher Education Administration from the University of Pennsylvania. She is also a graduate of Harvard Graduate School of Education’s Management Development Program. An avid reader, history buff, dog lover, and passionate servant leader, Dr. Burnette co-chaired the Mayor of Austin’s Task Force on Institutional Racism and Systemic Inequities and has received numerous accolades, including the Austinite of the Year Award, the Ohio State University Lifetime Achievement Award, and the Women in Business Award from the Austin Business Journal. Dr. Burnette is married to retired Lieutenant Colonel Dr. Daarel Burnette. They have two adult children, Daarel & Daana, and two granddogs, Cassius and Sergeant.
