Brian D. Sweany is a member of the Texas Book Festival advisory board and the senior vice president for communications at the Meadows Mental Health Policy Institute. He previously served as a principal at Genuine Article, a Dallas-based public affairs firm where he worked for one of the country’s most prominent non-profits. He has also served as the communications director for state agencies, developed the communication strategies for public policy initiatives at the Texas Legislature, and helped increase the visibility of numerous Texas-based companies. A proud alum of Texas Monthly, he started his journalism career there as an intern, in 1996, and ultimately served as Editor-in-Chief.
