Jedediah Berry was raised in Catskill, New York. His first novel, The Manual of Detection (Penguin Press, 2009), won the Crawford Award and the Dashiell Hammett Prize. His story in cards, The Family Arcana (Ninepin Press, 2015), was a finalist for a World Fantasy Award. His new novel is The Naming Song (Tor Books, 2024). He is also a writer of tabletop role-playing game books, including the ENNIE Award-winning The Valley of Flowers (Phantom Mill, 2024). He lives in Western Massachusetts, where he runs Ninepin Press, an independent publisher of fiction, poetry, and games in unusual shapes.
