Featuring Glynnis MacNicol and Kimberly King Parsons, this cross-genre panel focuses on women at pivotal moments in their lives exploring identity, desire and self-reinvention. In MacNicol’s memoir, I’m Mostly Here to Enjoy Myself, the author recounts her exhilarating summer in Paris, embracing pleasure and self-discovery amidst societal pressures surrounding aging. Meanwhile, Parsons’ debut novel We Were the Universe follows Kit, a young mother grappling with grief and desire after her sister’s death. As Kit navigates the chaos of motherhood and self-exploration, she confronts her own lost identity. Through their latest works, both authors challenge traditional narratives about what society expects from women, highlighting the joy and challenges of reinvention through different stages of life.
