Spanning thousands of letters sent to the writers Naomi Shihab Nye and Marion Winik, this collection brings the writing of Ann Alejandro to publication for the first time. A prolific and poignant writer, Alejandro spent 30 years on her ranch outside Uvalde, TX exchanging letters between close friends and family. Though she chose to never bring her work to the publishing world, her words continued to move and delight those who received them, long after her death in 2019. Organized by Nye and Winik into thematic sections, these two writers add rich commentary and context to Alejandro's collection. With a keen, spirited eye and a joyful sense of storytelling, Alejandro offers a vivid picture of the rural Southwest as she lived and experienced it. Join Nye and Winik in this conversation about Alejandro's work and the literary life she led through letters.
