Catherine (Katy) Chadwick Flato is from Houston originally, studied at Colorado College, graduated from the University of Texas and attended the Rice University Publishing Program. She worked in the editorial department of Texas Monthly in Austin for ten years, including time as founding editor of their lifestyle magazine, Domain, and as Managing Editor of TM. She moved to San Antonio in 1988, where she joined the board of the San Antonio Public Library Foundation, leading the “Copyright Texas” free author reading series and other events focused on literary entertainment. Katy was a member of the inaugural Advisory Board of the Texas Book Festival and was involved in the first TBF in 1996. In partnership with the Texas Book Festival, Katy, as founding executive director, launched the San Antonio Book Festival, in September of 2012, with Tracey Bennett, president of the San Antonio Public Library Foundation, and Clay Smith of Kirkus. Katy currently serves as chair of the board of SABF.
