Austin grew up in the Piedmont of North Carolina, raised on the local essentials – Mount Olive Pickles, Neese’s Country Sausage and Bojangles Sweet Tea. Upon moving to Brooklyn after graduating from an English Department, he fell in with a truant gaggle of boiled peanut purveyors, used cookbook salesmen, dishwashers and DJs, affirming his commitments to both pen and pantry. Twenty years ago, he and his favorite fishing partner took a film about Hog Cooking to the festival circuits, which was financed with actual Hog Cooking. Today, he lives in Austin, TX and is professionally known as the Senior Director of Brand at YETI.
