José Antonio Rodríguez is the author of, most recently, The Day’s Hard Edge. His other books include the poetry collections This American Autopsy, Backlit Hour, and The Shallow End of Sleep and the memoir House Built on Ashes, a finalist for the PEN America Los Angeles Literary Award and the Lambda Literary Award. His poems have appeared most recently in the New Yorker, The Atlantic, Paterson Literary Review, Lips and Latino Poetry: The Library of America Anthology and are forthcoming in the fifteenth edition of The Norton Introduction to Literature. A Mexican immigrant and first-gen college graduate, he holds a Ph.D. in English from Binghamton University and is a professor of creative writing at The University of Texas-Rio Grande Valley.
