Program Overview

Since our founding in 1995, promoting literacy and supporting Texas libraries have been integral to our mission. Each year, funds raised during the annual Texas Book Festival Weekend support grants that are distributed to libraries across Texas the following year. To date, the organization has funded 1,492 grants totaling more than $3.7 million in every corner of the state. Our goal is for these grants to assist libraries with enhancing their print, e-book, and audiobook collections with materials that meet the unique needs of their communities.

This generous funding will be used to acquire over 200 new juvenile graphic novels, significantly expanding the library’s collection for young readers. Graphic novels are a powerful tool for literacy development, offering a unique blend of images and text that encourages visual representation and the ability to make inferences to build comprehension. We extend our sincere gratitude to the Texas Book Festival and Texas Library Association for their support of the Victoria Public Library and our mission to support lifelong literacy.
