David Bowles is a Mexican American author and translator from south Texas, where he works as an associate professor of Nahuatl and literature at the University of Texas Río Grande Valley. Among his forty award-winning books are They Call Me Güero, My Two Border Towns, Secret of the Moon Conch, The Prince & the Coyote, and The Hero Twins and the Magic of Song. His work has also been published in multiple anthologies, plus venues such as The New York Times, Translation Review, and the Journal of Children’s Literature. Additionally, David has worked on several TV/film and game projects, including Victor and Valentino (Cartoon Network), the Mexica miniseries (Amazon/Amblin) and Monsters and Mysteries in America (Discovery), among others. David now serves as the president of the Texas Institute of Letters.
