Free, Open Sessions
Festival sessions are free and open to the public. Arrive early to ensure seating, which is on a first-come, first-served basis. No one will be admitted into sessions that are full unless another audience member leaves the session. Venues will be cleared between each session.
House Rules
The Book Festival's presence in the Capitol is a privilege and festival-goers are asked to respect the Capitol as the Festival venue; absolutely no food or drink is allowed in Capitol venues. When attending sessions in the Senate or House Chambers, please observe the guidelines posted by the Capitol at the entrance to those venues.
Booksignings
Authors will sign books 15 minutes after the end of their session. The Book Signing Tent is located at the intersection of Colorado & 13th Streets; the children's Book Signing Tent is at the intersection of Congress Ave. and 11th St.
Booksigning Policies
The Festival allows visitors to bring in books that haven’t been purchased at the Barnes & Noble Bookselling Tent and have them signed by authors, but only up to three books by any individual author that have not been purchased at the Festival can be brought in to the Booksigning Tent. Proceeds from books bought at the Festival benefit Texas public libraries. Visitors must show receipt of purchase for more than three books to be signed by any individual author. Dealers are not allowed to bring books into the Booksigning Tent; dealers with rolling carts and/or wagons are not allowed in the Booksigning Tent or on the Festival grounds.
